1. What dogs can benefit from a product like Boneo Canine®?
Boneo Canine® is safe and effective for dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. This bone and joint health supplement is great for puppies who need some extra support during their awkward growing phases (particularly large breeds), small or teacup-size dogs who can benefit from strengthening their fragile bones and joints, agility or working dogs who experience aches and pains from over-exertion, and senior dogs who need extra bone and joint support for a good quality of life. 2. What makes Boneo Canine® different from other dog supplements on the market?
A vast majority of traditional health supplements for dogs are based on glucosamine, chondroitin, and/or MSM. While these ingredients do provide some benefits, these benefits are limited to joint health (primarily lubrication and mobility). 3. Does Boneo Canine® contain glucosamine?
No, Boneo Canine® does not contain glucosamine, chondroitin or MSM. As a result, you can use it as a glucosamine-alternative (if you dog has sensitivities to glucosamine or does not respond well to it). It can also safely be used in conjunction with a glucosamine, chondroitin or MSM supplement.
4. Where is Boneo Canine® manufactured?
Our line of products is manufactured (tableted, bottled, labelled and stored) entirely in the United States at FDA-inspected manufacturing and packing facilities. We do, however, source our ingredients from premium suppliers around the world.
Quality and efficacy is of utmost importance to us. The decision to use a supplier is dependent on which supplier is known in the industry to offer the best quality product. For example, the Ribonuclease-Enriched Lactoferrin (a lactose-free milk protein) we use in our patented Neo-PORTIN® Complex is sourced from a leading dairy farms in Europe and US. Regardless of the source or reputation of a supplier, we also take the additional step of subjecting each and every one of our ingredients to independent third-party testing (for quality and purity) at a US-based certified laboratory prior to using it in our formulation.
5. If I give my dog Boneo Canine®, do I still need to give a glucosamine, chondroitin or other supplement?
While no interaction or safety issues are raised by adding Boneo Canine® to your dog's existing joint regimen, Boneo Canine® is designed as an ALL-IN-ONE supplement that supports BOTH the joints (collagen synthesis, lubrication, mobility, and comfort) as well as the bones (turnover, tissue formation, etc). It also has a variety of nutrients, like vitamin D3, bone minerals, like calcium, and antioxidants, like selenium for multi-functional support for all aspects of your dog's bone and joint health. Thus, it is not necessary to take any additional joint supplement above and beyond Boneo Canine®. In fact, Boneo Canine® is often recommended as an all-in-one product that can be taken safely by dogs that have glucosamine sensitivities. If you still have questions, you should always follow the recommendations of your veterinarian.
6. Can't I just give my dog a calcium supplement for dogs?
Boneo Canine® is a better alternative to a standard calcium/phosphorus supplement for dogs because it provides comprehensive support to all aspects of your dog's skeletal system- from the bones to the joints. Calcium is an important nutrient and needed to ensure good health, facilitate proper bone development, and prevent health complications in dogs. Calcium is usually found in canned and bagged dog food, but when dogs require extra support for their bones, or when they develop any type of bone density problem or calcium deficiency, additional calcium is often recommended as a supplement. In the case where a supplement is used, balance is extremely important. Excessive or inadequate amounts of calcium and phosphorous can cause health problems in dogs.
While standard calcium/phosphorus supplements for dogs may provide benefit to a dog's bone health, they also have certain limitations. These products do not address joint health and often contain upwards of 600 mg of calcium in each daily serving. 11. Is this product safe for pregnant dogs?
While we’ve taken every reasonable precaution to ensure that Boneo Canine® is a safe and premium quality product, safe use in pregnant animals has not been tested nor proven with this product. While we have not ever received any reports of adverse events associated with this product, we always recommend that you please follow your veterinarian’s advice on whether this product is right for your pregnant dog.
12. Can I give Boneo Canine® to my other animals?
The Boneo Canine® line has been designed specially for dogs (particularly with dosages of nutrients) and is recommended for use in dogs only. Bio-Rep® is currently in the process of creating separate formulations for use in cats and horses, respectively. We anticipate launching Boneo Feline™ and BONEO Equine™ soon.
13. My dog is finicky about taking supplements. How will I get him to take Boneo Canine®?
At Bio-Rep®, we understand that dogs care about flavor so we've addressed this problem. Your dog will think Boneo Canine® is treat! Each chewable tablet contains all natural liver powder, sunflower lecithin, and natural sausage flavoring designed for increased palatability in dogs. If your dog does happen to be one of the picky few who won't gobble it up, it is also a chewable tablet that is easily broken up to be mixed into your dog's regular food and can be hidden in a pill pocket or piece of meat.
